The Institute gathers researchers and builds partnerships to provide seed grants for stimulate new and extensive research.

The National Institute for Civil Disocurse is committed to gathering the best existing research about civility and incivility, their causes and consequences, and to catalyzing new research that can be translated into improved practice.  Plans for the future include producing additional research briefs, continuing a small grants program we began in the summer of 2011 to seed foundational research on civil discourse, enhancing our research networks both within the state of Arizona and nationally, and raising funds to convene research conferences at the University of Arizona. Two grants have been awarded through the small grants program.
